Riya Deepsi on making her return to TV after 2 years with ‘Tere Bina Jiya Jaye Na’

Actor Riya Deepsi has been on the tube for a while but has been rather patient with the kind of characters she choses to play in multiple shows. Interestingly, it has been over two years since Deepsi starred in a TV show and after all this time, the actor made her comeback with the recently launched show, Tere Bina Jiya Jaye Na.

In the past, Deepsi has been a part of historical and mythological shows like Mahabharat, Bharat Ka Veer Putra — Maharana Pratap and was last seen in Porus. The actor talked about her return to the small screen with ETimes TV as she said, “There has been a gap because I wanted to take up a character that interests me. I also wanted to take a break from mythological and historical genres. I wanted to do something different as an actor. Why should I not enjoy the privilege of being an actor, which is to be able to explore various characters in a lifetime? Though I was getting offers, I was looking for something that I hadn’t attempted before. I wanted to take up a show that resonates with today’s audience or a social drama.”

She mentioned how it took a while for her to reach the understanding as she said, “I was scared initially to take a break. I have always heard people say, ‘ Jo dikhta hai woh bikta hain’. Believing that, I also did some work that I could have easily avoided and I regretted it later. I learnt from my mistakes. This time around, I didn’t allow the thought to bog me down, which could make me take up some work and not feel satisfied with it. That’s why I didn’t pick anything I wasn’t interested in. I want to enjoy the process when I step out to work.”

She concluded talking about how she managed to survive in Mumbai without any stable work, “It is indeed difficult and challenging to sustain yourself in a city like Mumbai and I have seen my actor friends, who stay away from home, take up everything that comes their way. I am blessed that I stay with my family in Mumbai. This is one of the reasons I could wait for the right kind of role and not run after every opportunity.”
