The fate of TV shows these days has become extremely dicey where we have seen shows going off-air in a mere few months of runtime. A part of the same brigade has been the much-awaited sequel to the show, Mann Kee Awaz Pratigya 2. The show, which was a return to proceedings to the original Mann Kee Awaz Pratigya went on-air back in March 2021. However, after a continued run of bad ratings, the show was finally confirmed to go off-air a few days ago.
And now, actor Athar Siddiqui is understandably upset. Siddiqui plays the antagonist in the show and recently he went on to talk to ETimes TV about how he lost out on several opportunities owing to his commitment to the show which is now going off-air. He said, “When I signed Pratigya in February this year, I was very excited as it is an iconic show and viewers had shown a lot of appreciation for the first season. I felt that the second season would be game changer for me. I was part of the show since it began and I shot till April. Post that, the team was shooting in another state due to COVID restrictions in Maharashtra and I wasn’t taken there. I was asked by the makers to stay in Mumbai because they could call me whenever required.”
He added, “Every time I was told that my character would be needed soon and I was under contract with them for around two years. So I couldn’t take other opportunities that came my way. The makers had planned a love track featuring actress Supriya Kumari opposite me. But now with the show going off air, that won’t happen. I’m upset about the way things panned out. I missed out on other opportunities that came my way. I didn’t accept any of those as I was committed to this show.”

He did, however mention that he has no complaints given the unpredictable nature of the life of an actor. He said, “An actor’s life is full of struggle. There is no guarantee of payment or job security. And there is no one we can blame as this is a part and parcel of our profession. The reason behind our show going off air is justified. The pandemic has made things worse. I’m just trying to be positive and move on. I believe when one door closes, the Almighty will open another one.”
Mann Kee Awaz Pratigya 2 saw the return of actors Pooja Gor and Arhaan Behll while veteran Anupam Shyam recently passed away due to multiple organ failure.
