After delivering back-to-back blockbusters with 2015’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan and 2016’s Sultan, seems like everyone wants to cast bhai in their films. If latest reports are to believed, in what is fairly shocking news, Salman Khan might just act in Abbas-Mustan’s Race 3.
According to a report in BollywoodLife.com, a source revealed to the website that Khan read the script of Race 3 and showed interest in acting in the film. The report went on to say that the Sultan star is almost about to sign the dotted line very soon.
Reportedly, Salman will be replacing Saif in the third part of the Race series because Saif will be busy caring for his Kareena Kapoor Khan who is pregnant with her first child right now.
The Race franchise is slick and stylish compared to the earthy films Salman is associated with. His last few films had bhai playing grounded, earthy characters. The last urbane film he did was 2012’s Kick which was a runaway-hit. Salman playing a fashionable villain on the big screen is something everyone will obviously be eager to see.
In fact, unlike his contemporaries Aamir and Shah Rukh, Salman has never played a villain or a dark role in his career. While Shah Rukh rose up the ranks in Bollywood in the early 90s, playing negative roles in Darr, Baazigar and Anjaam, Aamir went on to play grey characters in Deepa Mehta’s Earth and in 2013’s Dhoom 3.
However, before Race 3 happens, Salman will be seen in Kabir Khan’s Tubelight based on 1962’s Sino-Indian war. The film will release on Eid next year.
