Sharad Tripathi, who has worked for various television shows, has recently become a bestseller with his love story, 90s Wala Pyaar. We got in touch with him about writing, the book, and what’s in store ahead. Read the interview here.

How did you get into writing?

This is a very interesting story. I was out treating my friends in a hotel for my medical entrance exam selection..where there were this Balaji telefilms writer and creative talent hunt was happening. So I just walked in, enrolled my self and the next thing I know is that I was selected and called for Balaji in-house writers room program.

If not a writer then what else?

I guess Doctor, or maybe, an RJ, because i have been told so many times that I am a good narrator and I have a very soothing and soft voice.

You’ve written some great shows, are films in the offering too?

Absolutely. A few really exciting announcements are on their way – web shows.. films.. and I have also signed a film as a lyricist.. so good news is just around the corner.

Tell us about your favourite show which you have liked working on.

I have written more than 50 shows and I can’t pick one among those many, but Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kasturi, Swaragini, Shakti are a few of my most favourite ones.

Something on your best seller?

I guess this is the best thing that has happened to me in this lockdown. and trust me.. it is one of the best reads for you all readers out there because it consists of 8 soft sweet cute romantic love stories which have 90’s elements in them and trust me, one will find a small little piece of their lives in some of the stories.

More books in the pipeline?

Yes.. a poetry collection – LAFZDAARI… then another Hindi novel – JAMNA PAAR WALI MOHABBAT… and then one English novel – GHANI KHAMMA.

Where to from here?

Wherever my dreams will lead me to because i guess there is sooooo much left to do and I am still very far from where I want to reach, I am writing.. to direction to production.. it is a long journey and I need loads of love support and blessings.

Here’s wishing him all the best.
