Yamini’s character from Naagin1 became extremely popular and it will always be special to me: Sudha Chandaran

From Ramola Sikand in Kaahin Kissii Roz, Vasundhara Malik in Tumhari Disha to now Seema in Naagin 6, Sudha Chandran has always entertained the TV audience with her performances. The veteran dancer and actor, who have also worked in films, is always open to experimenting and exploring new genres. Passionate about her craft, she enjoys every day as it comes. When asked about that one character on the tube that she will cherish forever, Sudha is quick to reply that all the parts have always been closest to her heart.

“It’s very difficult to differentiate between them from one another. But yes there are characters which have got me popularity. Ramola Sikand got me noticed on TV. It was the turning point when people thought that I’ve a girl next door image and already slaughtered me into Bhabhi roles and sister roles. So coming up with an absolute style icon on TV and that too a strong negative character that ruled hearts, I enjoyed it. People loved to hate me and that is the caption I always give to myself. In between, I took a break and went south only to re-enter Hindi television as Yamini with Naagin 1, and it became such a popular character all over again because it had the most unexpected twists and turns. So yes Yamini’s character is special. And if you’re talking about the South, currently I’m working on a project where I’m playing the character of Vagdevi, an educationist, who insists that every girl should be educated, which is very much an autocrat role. I feel really happy to play it,” she shares.

Sudha enjoys playing characters that allow her to prove her acting abilities. “I’ve been fortunate to have not restricted myself to explore just one genre of acting. I’ve moved on from negative to positive to an emotional mother’s character to comedy. I feel lucky and thankful to God that I got all these opportunities on TV,” says Sudha, who did not have any other dream but to be a part of art and showbiz. “I always believed that I was born to dance, born to act and born to entertain”, she said.
